The Top 6 T-shirt Trends Happening Right Now

Based off of our internal research, here are the top t-shirt trends we’ve seen take off this year!

1. Foil - It’s great for bold prints! It can also be used with our water based inks. The two are compatible, so it’s absolutely fine to print a design and highlight parts of the image with foil.

2. Gradient blends - It’s a gradual spot color blend using half tones. Each color fades into a new color. This is different than a typical SIM process print where there would be a lot more overlapping of colors and gradients.

3. Tonal inks -  It’s a print using water based inks to achieve a hue somewhat lighter or darker than the color of the garment. It creates a very subtle print and continues to produce some of the best looking shirts!

4. 1 or 2 color designs - As simple as these designs can be, they stand against the test of time. They are classic and will never go out of style! Options are endless as far as simplicity goes - illustration, lettering, etc. By using water based inks, you’re left with a super soft print, so go big or small just keep it simple.

5. Multiple shirt styles - There’s an abundance of products to fit anyone’s style! We’ve seen mostly crew neck short sleeve t-shirts, a lot of flowy scoop neck muscle tees for women and of course, hoodies have been hitting the presses with the cold weather just around the corner.

6. Fabric blends - The traditional fabric blends “100% cotton”, “poly/cotton” and “poly/cotton/rayon” will more than likely never go out of style. Over the past couple years, printing on Tri-blends has continued to increase. The fabric composition %’s might change to achieve different looking t-shirt blends, but if you understand how printing on blends works, you’ll always achieve fantastic results.
